Animal Control Supervisor Pat Wiggins said 15 cats have been neutered, given ear tags and released since the project began in June.
The program is being paid for with grants and money from the Carson Tahoe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Wiggins said 250 feral or injured cats were euthanized in the city last year.
She said feral cats can't be tamed, and fertile feral cats can disrupt neighborhoods by fighting and rapidly reproducing.
