LAS VEGAS — The U.S. Department of Transportation is announcing that Nevada will get $2.1 million in stimulus funds for transit projects.

The Nevada Department of Transportation will use the funds to purchase three buses and miscellaneous support equipment.

The Federal Transit Administration has awarded 881 grants totaling $7.5 billion since President Barack Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act in February 2009.

The U.S. Transportation Department is making $48.1 billion available for construction and repairs nationwide on highways, bridges, rail transit, small shipyards and airports.
