The meetings will explain the district’s reform agenda, provide an update on the district’s strategic planning process and obtain ideas from the public about how best to advocate for students, teachers, and staff during the special session and this unsettled budget time, according to a release from the school district.
The town hall meetings are both on Wednesday. One will be from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Sparks High School, 820 15th St. in Sparks. The second meeting will follow from 6 to 7:15 p.m. in the cafeteria at Pine Middle School, 4800 Neil Road in Reno.
Board of Trustees president Estela Gutierrez and Superintendent Heath Morrison will begin each forum with a short presentation that features an update on the district’s comprehensive strategic plan, a review of the district’s reform initiatives, an update on the special session and information about the budget.
Following their remarks, Morrison and Gutierrez will take questions from the public.
“I know our employees, parents, students and the public have many questions and there is great uncertainty about what lies ahead,” Morrison said. “Our goals at these sessions are to inform people about what we know at this moment and hear what they have to say about these important topics.”
