RENO — Washoe County Regional Parks and Opens Space presents a series of nature programs about birds of prey on Saturday afternoons during the month of May as part of the “Predators” exhibit at the Wilbur D. May Museum.

Museum guide Mary Ellen Harlow presents programs at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. every Saturday in May. Programs feature live domesticated birds, such as chickens and parakeets, which Harlow will compare to the less docile predators of the skies.

At 1 p.m. on May 30, the museum will offer a special program on raptors featuring wildlife expert and author Gary Herron along with one of his live Peregrine Falcons. According to Harlow, Herron is a noted expert on raptors and was involved in a project to reintroduce Peregrine Falcons to the United States and Canada, increasing their numbers to the point that they are no longer endangered.

The Wilbur D. May Museum is located inside Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra St., Reno.

Exhibit admission is $8 for adults, $7 for children and $5.50 for groups of 15 or more with reservations. For more information, call 785-5961 or visit www.maycenter.com.
